ESCALATOR BASIC COMPONENTS

Preferably, escalators are designed to conveniently transport people from traveling to different floor levels. Escalators have the capacity to move large numbers people with no waiting interval which definitely helps people save time especially when in a rush. However, this machinery and all its escalator parts require regular checkup and cleaning to maintain its stability and effectiveness. Thus, escalators are composed of different functional components which make it proficiently work. Some of the basic escalator parts and components are specified as follows.
Landing Platforms, Escalator Track and Truss
Primarily, landing platforms are consists of four major components including combplates, also known as walk-on plates which serves as the entrance and exit for the passengers to the steps. The comb segments that may also be called a combplate by non-standard noun name which are replaceable. The access covers which is used as an entrance to the bottom area for inspection, maintenance, and repairs. And the comb lights which are identified as an optional safety device used to irradiate the area where steps and comb segments come across, attached at the upper and lower landing above the comb segments. On the other hand, the escalator track system is built into the truss where it moves the steps down along the bottom of the truss until they reach the bottom landing, then the tracks separates and the steps repeatedly undertake a staircase configuration. On the other hand, escalator truss is commonly identified as the structural frame of the escalator. It is consists of three major areas including the lower section, incline section and the upper section. Escalators truss plays a significant role in the escalator mechanism as it is ideally designed to carry the entire contents of the escalator equipment and the steel covering without fluctuating more than indicated by the contract necessities. It also transmits all the straight track sections connecting the upper and lower sections.
Escalator Steps, Handrails and the Balustrade
Escalator steps are compacted material which can be made out of aluminum or steel. Escalator steps are associated by continuous metal chain that forms a closed loop by which executes the steps to move. Ideally, escalator steps are consists of six major components including the step plate or thread which is usually made of an aluminum plate. The step riser which is designed to pass between the cleats of contiguous step, the frame which is the main support for riser, step tread, and step wheel; the demarcations which are identified as the yellow strips of the step tread, the trail wheels which are used to guide the step and support its load on the track. And the step hooks which is typically attached to the end of the frame. On the other hand, handrail is the escalator part that provides useful handhold for the passenger which is constructed with distinct sections including the body piles, cover stock, cotton slider, and steel. Yet, the balustrade is consists of the handrail and the exterior supporting structure of the escalator which are classified in two major modules including interior and exterior components. Each of these components is also classified for their sub components which play significant roles to the accurate routine of the escalator.
